Most of what needs doing after a skin check happens right here at the clinic, usually with the same doctor who found the spot. No being bounced somewhere new for every little thing.
What we do on site
Dermoscopy and monitoring
Every spot is assessed with a dermatoscope. Borderline spots are documented and rechecked at a set interval rather than cut out unnecessarily.
Skin biopsies
A small sample taken under local anaesthetic and sent to pathology, so treatment decisions are based on exactly what a spot is, not a guess.
Excisions
Skin cancers and suspicious lesions removed under local anaesthetic. The tissue goes to pathology to confirm it has been fully cleared.
Minor skin procedures
Other minor procedures for skin spots and lesions, done in the practice treatment room.
Wound care and follow up
Stitches out, wound checks and results all happen here, because the clinic sits inside a full general practice.
Specialist referral
When something needs a dermatologist, plastic surgeon or specialist centre, your doctor refers you on and stays across your care.
What treatment costs
Procedures are charged separately from the skin check itself, and many attract a Medicare rebate. Your doctor talks you through the cost before anything goes ahead, so there are no surprises on the day.
